Adblock Notify Lite and AO

$

Replies: 1

The plugin Adblock Notify Lite has a clever feature where you can use random selectors and files. This helps prevent adblockers from blocking it and works very well. The negative is that there is no consistent JS filename that can be used in the AO exclude settings (the file created looks like .../wp-content/uploads/ZoZT2ghPoZcZ/6PjlxNcwNws3.js). And, since there are page-specific differences inside that Adblock Notify JS file the AO generated files will differ across pages and the size quickly grows and grows. Any thoughts on how to make AO work well with this plugin? Maybe allowing a simple wildcard operator?

Inline JS exclusion and minify functionality

The ability to exclude certain inline javascript is great but it seems that in addition to excluding it from the consolidated AO JS file, it also gets excluded from the minify functionality. Is there a reason for this? It’s not usually much code so it is a pretty small issue, but I am just curious why it isn’t minified like all the rest of the code.

Autoptimize cannot write to the cache directory

Hi,

I am getting a “Autoptimize cannot write to the cache directory (default: /wp-content/cache/autoptimize), please fix to enable CSS/ JS optimization!” message at the top of the page. I saw there were other threads, but they didn’t help me.

I am on CentOS and when I look at the owner it is ‘nobody’ and the current folder permission is set to 755. I changed it to 777 and also changed it to the account as the owner, but that didn’t change anything. Is there anything else I can try to fix this?

I really like the plugin! Thanks.

Using current versions of JetPack and Autoptimize

These scripts are added by Jetpack:

<script type='text/javascript' src='http://s1.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/notes/notes-common-v2.js?ver=4.3.2-201648'></script>
<script type='text/javascript' src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/notes/admin-bar-v2.js?ver=4.3.2-201648'></script>

When logged in only, I see these errors in Chrome dev. console.

Uncaught ReferenceError: Backbone is not defined
    at http://s1.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/notes/notes-common-v2.js?ver=4.4.1-201648:32:44

Uncaught ReferenceError: _ is not defined
    at http://s0.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/notes/admin-bar-v2.js?ver=4.4.1-201648:2:51

When I turn Autoptimize off using ?ao_noptimize=1

There are no errors.

How do I tell Autoptimize to leave these two scripts as is? I see what to do for scripts on our server, but not external ones such as shown here.

Hi Frank,

I’m using AO and WP super cache. They worked fine until I clicked the empty cache button in AO. The AO CSS got 404’s. Then I deactivated AO and cleared WP super cache but the issue remains still.

Here’s web page test result: https://www.webpagetest.org/result/161205_38_TRK/

Please take a look. Thanks so much!

AO breaks structure of website

Hello Frank,

I was a little in doubt if AO was the culprit, but now im sure it is. I fixed everything about my website and all was displaying well. At that moment, AO was deactivated. As soon as i activated AO the problems came. Everything is outlined left, my footer is a mess, the social share buttons are displayed verticaly and also the dates under my article(homepage) arent displayed right.

What can i do to fix this? Otherwise i have to stop using the plugin 🙁

Hello. I have a plugin installed called Responsive Menu for mobile devices. The plugin works fine but when I select the “Optimize JavaScript Code?” under “JavaScript Options” it stops working and in the console it says that jquery is not defined. I’d like to make it work still using the “Optimize JavaScript Code?” options as it makes my website much faster.

Thanks

Hi,

it seems there is an incompatibility with WP 4.7. As soon as the option “Also aggregate inline CSS” is checked, the path for the custom background image in WP is incorrect and background images won’t display anymore.

Option “Generate data: URIs for images?”

Replies: 1

Hi there,

i am having an issue with the option “Generate data: URIs for images?”
When i use this option, the generated css looks like this :

.widget ul li {
    background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) url("data:image/png;base64,<REMOVED>") no-repeat scroll 0 0;
    padding: 0 0 15px 10px;
}

but the original css for this looks like that :

.widget ul li{background:url(images/bullet.png) no-repeat 0 6px;padding:0 0 15px 10px}

the 6px are missing somehow.
When i deactivate this option, the css seems to be correct and the 6px are not missing.

what am i doing wrong?

thanks in advance.

Change directory for cached files does not work

Hi,

I have just installed the latest Autoptimze version and everything works just GREAT ! Thanks !

The only option I was not able to get to work is to change the directory name (as described in the FAQ, “Can I change the directory & filename of cached autoptimize files?”).

I have added the following two lines to wp-config.php:

define('AUTOPTIMIZE_CACHE_CHILD_DIR','/resources/');
define('AUTOPTIMIZE_CACHEFILE_PREFIX','aggregated_');

But the cache directory is still the same (even after restarting NGINX/PHP5-FPM):
/var/www/www.xxxxxxxxxx.com/cms/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/

Any ideas what could be the reason ?

Thank you !

JS breaks only when logged out (logged in ok and host already tested)

Hello there,

Phenomonal plugin, but I just noticed something I had not seen before because I am always logged in. JS minification works perfectly when logged in. But it breaks JS execution when browsing logged out like a normal anonymous public user.

Does this make sense at all? It had me stumped most of yesterday on this so really hope you can point me in the right direction.

My host and I wondered if it was a cache issue, but it is not. They have been very proactive indeed and they have tried:

1) cache exclusions, didn’t work
2) full cache bypass, again didn’t work
3) disable CDN (which also offers caching)

They were stuck at the same brick wall and asked for your input. This was after I tried experimenting with anything I could think of. I did diff compare the minified JS and saw adminbar and cookie setting differences in the code, that seemed normal and expected to my ignorant eye given one was logged in as admin and the other was anonymous and incognito cookieless.

The settings I have are:

https://anonm.gr/up/b35b.png (just noticed the tick to Optimise JS Code is cut off the graphic – it is ticked :))

Many thanks again,

R.
