excluding custom js file

Replies: 4

Hi,
I read most of the topics on this matter here, but I still can’t bring autoptimize to exclude a custom JS file, which is needed for adblockers detection. The file ads.js is in themes/dt-the7-child/js/ads.js directory, and I want it to be excluded from processing/aggregation. When I add it excluded list and un-check aggregation, it still renames it and makes this file useless. I clear all possible caches every time, so it is not an issue.
Any idea where to dig? I used different directory names while trying to exclude it, but nothing seems to work.

Thank you in advance for any help!
Alex

Optimize CSS / Mega Menu Issues

Hi, the Optimize CSS option really improves my site performance and speed. However, it also does something strange to my menu. At the link provided, you can see that right now, the menu is aligned to the right of and beneath the logo. However, when Optimize CSS is disabled, the menu is as it should be, aligned to the right of and to to the top with the logo.
Do you know what I can do to resolve this?
Thanks,
Michael

ShortPixel image compression not working

Hi,

Thank you for the great plugin. A few days ago, I update it to the latest version. And I noticed that now we can optimize images with ShortPixel. I also understand that this is temporary try-all-for-free to see if it will optimize our site further. Unfortunately, I simply can’t get how to make this work.

I have checked the box and select glossy compression and save the setting. I also purge all caching. Yet it does not optimize any existing images on my Media library or optimize any newly upload images. The size of the images in my Media library remains the same. I also deactivate my current image compression plugin but it still not working. Besides that, I also tried on a new WordPress site with only Jetpack plugin activated yet it still not working. So perhaps I’m missing something here and I hope you can enlighten me.

Caching issue for rating plugin

Hi there,

I’ve got a rating plugin on my website (wp-postratings) and I’ve noticed that sometimes you cannot vote as it won’t let you click on the stars. Only after deleting cache from Autoptimize it will work fine.

Is there a way to delete cache automatically? Or exclude caching from the rating plugin?

Thanks!

Autoptimize 2.4: known issues, workarounds and next minor version

So the dust seems to be settling after a rather hectic couple of days following the release of AO 2.4 🙂

These are the known issues;
* long time to first byte; on some servers (without support for mbstring, a minority luckily) Autoptimize fell back to using iconv_substr for multibyte character conversion, which slowed things down considerably. this will be fixed in 2.4.1 (which by default won’t use iconv any more)
* high CPU usage; I saw 2 mentions of this, but have not received details. this might very well be the same as the previous issue though and if so will also be fixed in 2.4.1.
* HTTP 500/ blank pages; it turned out that the new (much faster) version of the CSS minifier that AO uses expects somewhat better CSS. in case of syntax errors in the CSS, the minifier crashes. I will add an item in the FAQ to warn users about this.
* In some cases not all Google Fonts were loaded due to a missing & in the aggregated Google Font CSS, this will be fixed in AO 2.4.1.
* In one case the CSS minifier replaced black in a font-family name with #000 which resulted in the font not being applied, I’ve opened an issue on the minifiers’s github page.
* if minification was disabled with a filter (which is very exceptional), some CSS/ JS got lost, this will be fixed in 2.4.1.
* one report of excluded JS breaking because of minification, this can be worked around with a simple code snippet (it’s mentioned in the AO FAQ). I might turn this into an option on the settings-screen at a later stage.

That’s it for now, 2.4.1 will probably be released shortly after Oct. 1st.

Enjoy the weekend! 🙂

Hi there,

My theme maker uses on his demo site WP Rocket and made jQuery non render blocking.

However when I try it with AO it breaks the site and I get errors. Is there a way AO can make jQuery non render blocking like WP Rocket does?

Thanks!

shortpixel preloader

Hey…

When I run my site through speedtest on tools.pingdom.com I see a preloader being loaded over Shortpixel CDN. The preloader is taking 500ms to load. How can I remove this preloader? The preloader came after updating Autoptimize to the latest version. I do not have the shortpixel CDN checked within the Autoptimize settings….

Here is the path to the preloader: https://cdn.shortpixel.ai/client/q_lossy,ret_img/https://onlinefox.dk/wp-content/themes/Divi/Includes/builder/styles/images/preloader.gif

wp_set_password not working with autoptmize

I have recently discovered that when using the wp_set_password function to set the password of the user, it’s not actually updating the password with Autoptimize activated. It works fine and sets to the new password if I deactivate Autoptimize.

I feel like I had a similar issue a couple years ago and got help on it but cannot find any posts about it in my history.

Is this a known issue at all and is there a fix?

I disabled autoptimize and the cached CSS WONT GO AWAY,

I even goto the cache directory: /wp-content/cache/autoptimize/css
and cleared everything there and the cached css still magically appeared!

I even cleared cache at cloudflare, but it still wont go away:

I want to disable autoptimize temporary because some CSS is not updating even after the changes is made in style.css, nothing seems to work! the autoptimze cached CSS just WONT update

refresh/reload loop of version 2.4.0

Hi Guys

Found that this snippet that i use is the cause of the constant refresh/reload loop in version 2.4.0

Obviously I need this on the 20+ sites as every day the cache on some now climbs to over 2GB in a day now i cant use in 2.4.0

if (class_exists('autoptimizeCache')) {
    $myMaxSize = 256000; # You may change this value to lower like 100000 for 100MB if you have limited server space
    $statArr=autoptimizeCache::stats();
    $cacheSize=round($statArr[1]/1024);

    if ($cacheSize>$myMaxSize){
       autoptimizeCache::clearall();
       header("Refresh:0"); # Refresh the page so that autoptimize can create new cache files and it does breaks the page after clearall.
    }
}

Any ideas on what i need to change?

Cheers

CSS Loading Cancelled

Replies: 0

Hey Frank,

So i just noticed today loading one page had no css styling. When i viewed with developer tools it returned a status of cancelled for the AO css.

This only happened when i had cloudflare cache everything page rule active, and disabling that rule made page load normally.

So i’m not sure if this was a caching issue where the page was trying to load a css that didn’t exist (perhaps because my theme caused the AO cache to clear?)

What do you think?
