Loading php code in javascript tag

Hi.

When configuring the AWS CDN in the plugin it presents the following error: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ‘<‘

The error is because the plugin is trying to load PHP code into the javascript tag.

Question about caching

I’ve always been afraid to do “minifying” of CSS and Javascript so I put it off until I saw all the great reviews of Autoptimize. I installed the plugin using the defaults values. Wow, what a difference!

I ran a test on fastorslow.com and the results were impressive but one thing that was pointed out was Improve Caching Efficiency:

An estimated 3 MB is wasted per load due to cache misses across 69 files. Increasing cache times where possible will result in faster page loads for repeat visitors. Files with a 50% or lower chance of a cache miss are not listed (0 files, 0 B additional).

The only cache that I have available at the moment is nginx (I currently have it off). Would that help the situation or would you recommend something else?

One other question related to nginx. These two settings are related to serving files so should they be on or off?

Hi, I’m using prleoad in “extra tab” and oddly I can see the preload code in the head so I guess I have to wait more or report it; create an issue for it in lighthouse? if the first how long should it take for PS to pick it up?

High load on the hosting processor

Tell me, my hosting provider swears that I have a heavy load on the processor (18%). I think the deal is with the AutoPtimize plugin. When it is off, my load is 2% -5%, when I turn it on, it is 10% -20%.
The report says that requests for the site are coming from my IP address. Tell me, what am I doing wrong?

Logo image link/loading broken

Suddenly (think it started yesterday) my logo image (I’m on a Retina screen) is not loading/showing anymore.
When I untick the setting “Optimize images on the fly and serve them from Shortpixel’s global CDN.” it’s there again.
When I go to the “Customizer” it is also appearing normally and the url/link on my website is valid.

Three caches, AO, Page, and CDN, not working well together

Hi Frank,

We recently moved to a new hosting service, Kinsta. They use a different CDN from our old host, Pantheon. We are noticing some problems whenever we deploy new code and clear caches. We clear the caches in this order:

1. Autoptimize cache
2. Page cache
3. CDN cache.

However, we are noticing 404 errors for the AO CSS and JS files (we use Critical CSS) on some pages. This obviously breaks the page.

The question I have is if you know in what order we should be clearing those caches, or any other recommendations you have for dealing with this problem.

Bug using Critical CSS and Borlabs Cookie plugins together

Hey guys,

until very recently I used Critical CSS on all my websites to speed them up and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately though, a very nasty bug has come up, causing the site not to show the top of the page on the first visit but the very bottom.

I pinned it down to the Borlabs Cookie plugin I am also using on all my sites and reached out to their support. Together, we found out that Critical CSS was causing the problem, so disabling it solved the problem.

Not surprisingly, my websites are now much slower and I really want to start using Critical CSS again but as the cookie banner is required by law while a fast page is not, I cannot go back to using it because of the bug described above and, obviously, Borlabs does not see the responsibility for solving the problem at their end.

So, any ideas anyone? Please let me know if you need any further information.

WSOD (white screen of death)

Hi,
I have a white screen of death on many websites (on different servers), appears randomly.
Strange thing: it appears even if all Autoptimize settings are disabled.
No server error. Empty DOM. response is 200.
No bug if I totally disable Autoptimize.

JS Error

Hello,

I have a store plugin that I’m told is having a JS Error.

My webpage having an issue.

A JS error shows up in the browser console ( F12 ).

autoptimize_0ecdd12afaf9271b9394226737a73f17.js:410 Uncaught ReferenceError: google is not defined

Is there any setting I can change to resolve this issue?

Which URL’s use which optimized files?

Hi,
First of all I would like to thank you one more time for this fantastic plugin. It is just great and I am extremely happy about it.
I am working hard on unifying JS and CSS on all my pages. 99% or more of URL’s in my site call 1 JS file and 1 CSS file.
Every now and then I have some weird additional JS and CSS files appearing with small differences which can’t be explained. Like there is script which is always loaded but sometimes it is missing from aggregated JS.
I would like to debug it more, but is there a way to know which URL was associated with which JS/CSS file? If not, which filter can I tap to use syslog to write AO file and URL after each page load?

Hi,

Since i have installed autoptimize, my page loading spinner image first gets blurred/dark and then shows the image.

I think it has something to do with lazy load, but i dont know how to fix this.

Hi,

How to clear cdn shortpixel, I used wp super cache, autoptimize cloudflare + shortpixel for webp images. My amp (?amp) shows the last images, but my mobile version doesn’t show the good ones.

It looks that the image is coming from CDN -> https://i.imgur.com/cYUH6xE.png and it is stored in autoptimize.

CDN Ignoring Excluded Folders

Hey,

So I’ve configured Autoptimize and whilst it works mostly perfectly, having an issue with the CDN.

There are files and resources we don’t want to include within the CDN but regardless of the folders we put into the exclude JS, it still tries to loads the files via the CDN.

I’ve unchecked the “Minify excluded CSS and JS files?” option and even when I put wp-content/themes/[CHILD THEME NAME]/* or wp-content/plugins/* into the excluded scripts, it adds the CDN to icons within the child theme and to scripts within plugins.
