Autoptimize affecting website scroll speed

$

Hi Team,

I noticed that my website scrolls (page scrolling up and down) faster than other websites I have, when I searched in the java scripts I found one script that is influencing the scrolling speed ( “$(window).scrollTop()” & “event.wheelDelta” ) and it is coming from autoptimize.

I am not sure how this happened since I have autoptimize on many other websites and they are all scrolling fine. But I know for fact that there is only one java script affecting my scroll speed on this website and it’s from Autoptimize.

the js file is under wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_(random numbers and letters).js

The question now is how do i disable it? and if I can’t disable it, how do I make changes to it?

regards,
Ralph

Aggregating inline CSS changes the site

I’m assuming that “Also aggregate inline CSS?” means combining STYLE blocks, before minifying everything, and in theory, the contents of CSS files and STYLE blocks are combined in the order in which they appear in the HTML code.

In such a case, I would expect to see no difference in how the site looks, but in fact, there is a major difference.

Compare to the live site [ redundant link removed ], where “Also aggregate inline CSS?” is turned off and everything works OK.

Full disclosure:

  • The live site uses AO 2.5.1 and the dev site uses 2.6.1, so the latest version doesn’t help.
  • The live site is delivered via Cloudflare, but looks the same in “development mode”, so that’s not a factor either

Help! Disfigured main page on my site. uninstalled plugin, restored backup

When I added this plugin to my Divi site, it disfigured the homepage. I cleared the cache and deleted the plugin to correct the issue, but it didn’t work. So, I restored a backup of my site. However, now whenever I try to make edits to the home page, it reverts back to the disfigured way it looked when I added the plugin initially.

Right now, the backup version is installed so it’s looking normal, but I can’t make any edits or it’s game over back to the disfigured homepage.

How do I fix this so I can edit my homepage without it constantly reverting back to the messed up version?

Osano and Autoptimize not playing well together

I was using GDPR cookie consent plugin but didn’t like the way you needed to reload to allow scripts so I went looking for a different solution and am trying out Osano (or at least trying to.) You load it by a script that looks like:

<script src="https://cmp.osano.com/AzZcs7RnBLrEHleN/bda4c160-fae9-4723-aeb3-2e2fe904b6fc/osano.js"></script>

It detects scripts that you categorize to either block or unblock…but autoptimize generates a bunch of /cache/ scripts…

But my issue is that when I have Osano enabled it does a nice job at blocking ads, analytics, etc and then allowing them once the accept button is hit…however, it also blocks most of my website images, and ONLY when autoptimize is enabled. I tried excluding the above script from autoptimize, have allowed any theme files in Osano that it’s detected, but I’m not sure what else to do here…go wtih a different cookie consent provider?
Thanks

No referrer is sent at first page view after emptying the cache

Hi there,

I reproduced the following behavior:
I delete the cache. The first page call after that doesn’t show me a referer in the console (chrome, network). This causes problems e.g. for my domain-restricted vimeo players because they block the videos because of the missing referrer.

Beginning with the second page call the referrer is sent correctly and the vimeo player works.

I don’t know if its a bug or a configuration issue. I tried to deactive all options in the plugin settings but had still the same effect for the first page call.

Would be nice to get a fix or a workaround for that issue.

Thank you!

Automptimise causing page content to render half way down the screen

Automptimise is causing the content on each of the pages of my website to render half way down the page at first, then quickly re-render where they should be. I have deactivated the plugin and the issue stopped occurring. I am using default settings, is there a certain setting I can modify to stop this happening?

Some images not showing

Dear mr/miss,

I use the Dokan multivendor plugin for my multivendor platform and autoptimize to optimize all the images that are added by the vendors.

After the latest update, Dokan and autoptimize were not compatible anymore (a large part of my website was unavailable and only by deactivating autoptimize the problem was solved). But after deactivation a lot of images in my media gallery and on the product overview page of my website itself were not visible anymore (see https://handwerkmarkt.nl/handwerk-categorie/productcategorie/sieraden/).

I tried activating the autoptimize plugin again, and the compatibility issue was gone (so the site work fine) but the images are still not visible. Dokan support told be that image loading works the same for Dokan as it does for Woocommerce and WordPress, and that they think it is a problem within the autoptimize plugin, so can you please help me with this??

Thank you very much in advance!

AO with GeneratePress and nginx

Hi Frank

My mobile speed score on Google PageSpeed is quite low.

I have read through a couple posts here already and checked this page from GeneratePress as well – no luck yet.

My goal is to get a much higher score on Google PageSpeed for mobile. I have taken many steps already, but none of them seem to work the way I would like to.

The website is using an nginx server. This is why my webhoster does not recommend using Autoptimize.

Very glad for any helpful tips you can give me here in order to make use of this great plugin. Also have PWA in use, however the normal mobile version should perform better if possible.

Thanks a lot
Michael

static.gstatic.com

I disabled google fonts but gstatic is still appearing in waterfall. My waterfall shows gstatic is taking 1.2seconds load time. I definitely wanna reduce this. But won’t loading this on my server cause the load time to increase more for those visitors that live farther away from my server? I’m using cloudflare so perhaps it will pull the fonts from my server automatically.
I found a support forum here that said a script solved the issue.
Here’s the link: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-google-fonts-does-not-remove-preconnect-to-https-fonts-gstatic-com/

The script that worked for @mayamitkind is:

/**
 * Removes the preconnect to fonts.gstatic.com
 */
add_filter('autoptimize_html_after_minify', function($content) {

    $content = str_replace("<link href='https://fonts.gstatic.com' crossorigin rel='preconnect' />", ' ', $content);

    return $content;
}, 10, 1);

Will this code work on all site including mine? Meaning is it a general code?
Second, and most important, WHERE DO I ADD THIS CODE? In my functions.php? or in my theme custom css box in the customiser?
I’m not much comfortable in all these codings so having a hard time. A simple easy non geeky answer would be great.

Thank you!

Cache size is getting big

Autoptimize’s cache size is getting big, consider purging the cache. Have a look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/faq/ to see how you can keep the cache size under control.

Can anyone give me some guidance on what the issue is here? When I log in to the website in question the cache size is only 1.8mb. Is that too big?

Aggregate JS Breaks Website

I’m trying to speed up the website and have added Autoptimize and Async Javascript. The website loads with no errors with Autoptimize settings:
– optimize JS
– aggregate JS

But when I activate Async (async with jQuery excluded) the site won’t load. Only get a loading icon and I get these errors messages in console:
