Layout Broken

Hello,

After applying the recommended settings of Autoptimize and Async Javascript the site was fast, but suddenly the layout was broken and even if I deactivated the plugins, the layout didn’t fix it.

In Chrome > Console shows the following errors:

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ‘<‘
https://lousamagica.com/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_05447b5d24628665d7f8bf337c4a76b1.js

It displays these two errors in which I have already removed the preload, but it seems that the Autoptimize cache continues to display, even though I disabled the plugin:

The resource https://lousamagica.com/wp-content/plugins/elementor/assets/lib/eicons/fonts/eicons.woff2?5.9.1 was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from the window’s load event . Please make sure it has an appropriate as value and it is preloaded intentionally.

The resource https://lousamagica.com/wp-content/plugins/elementor/assets/lib/font-awesome/webfonts/fa-solid-900.woff2 was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from the window’s load event. Please make sure it has an appropriate as value and it is preloaded intentionally.

above the fold CSS – Scrolled down to End of Page

Hey there,

with the CriticalCSS option turned on the homepage is scrolled down to the complete bottom (end of page; tested with Firefox and Chrome in Incognito Mode). Even if there is no CSS in there at all.

Is there any known bug or so? When I deactivate only that option it is at the top as intended (hero section).

Greetings
Andy

Edit: I deactivated the option atm so you cannot test it right now (just for info).

Use WildChars in Preload Specific Requests

$

Replies: 1

Hi,

Is it possibe to use wildchars to add assets to preload specific requests. Reason for this – I am trying to preload images, but images are selected at random on user visit so short of preloading all images, is there a neater wildchar way to do this.

I have tried adding folder location, it didn’t work. (for some reason I thought this might have been implemented similar to the exclusion rules in JS/CSS optimization)

Appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Gagan

Simple CSS plugin and autoptimize

Hi.

I am trying to set up a different font size for mobile. I am using Generatepress as theme.

I put this code:

/*font-size mobile*/
    @media (max-width: 768px) {
    body {
        font-size: 16px;
    }
}

For small devices font using either aditional CSS or the plugin Simple Css (from same author as Generatepress).

The problem is that with my autoptimize setting it does not work. If I unclick “Aggregate all linked CSS-files? If this option is off, the individual CSS-files will remain in place but will be minified.” then it will work on mobile. however the number of requests grow.

Is there a possibility of excluding the plugin simple CSS or somehow the code from the “exclude css from autoptimize”? Or any other solution?

Thanks

Noob question

Hi there,

1. I’m trying to understand the cache. When Autoptimize says, Cache is 1%, does that mean 1 user loaded my website? Thus, the more traffic I get, the more the cache will grow? Or no, once I see the 1%, that’s as big as the cache will get (as long as I don’t add new pages to my website).

2. Am I correct in thinking that the cache is only effective for page speed after the user loads the entire website one time? Thus, it won’t affect page speed the FIRST time they visit the website? Correct? They have to load it once, thus, when they return in the future, it will load faster?

Thanks,

I wrote a topic about this 2 months ago where I was unable to update the plugin. Last time I was told to delete and re install the plugin, which worked.

But this time I am unable to update or even delete the plugin. I keep receiving this message.

Update failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

Minifying files not working

Autoptimize is not minifying css and js files and there’s still render blocking jQuery file. What could be causing this. I’ve flushed all caches multiple times and checked Autoptimize settings.

Conflict with Facebook and OpenGraph og:

This topic has been discussed before here:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/autoptimize-is-blocking-facebook-open-graph/

But my experience seems to be different from the one of that poster.

Indeed, when I shared posts to Facebook the featured image did not show (in fact, no image showed) and the FB debugger showed error messages on Open Graph (“The following required properties are missing: og:url, og:type, og:title, og:image, og:description, fb:app_id”)

In my case, the option in Autoptimize that breaks the sharing to Facebook (and hides to og: parameters?) is “Optimize HTML Code?”

Leaving that OFF (unticked) seems to make sharing work as it should.

I don’t know if this is “as expected” or if it is something that could/should be fixed.

(What I have ON are the following:
– Aggregate JS-files?
– Aggregate CSS-files?
– Also aggregate inline CSS?
– Save aggregated script/css as static files?
– Minify excluded CSS and JS files?
All other options are OFF)

Goedemiddag Frank,

Ik krijg een waarschuwing bij GT metrix Avoid bad requests die verwijst naar 3 urls
https://movechamps.nl/webfonts/fa-solid-900.ttf
https://movechamps.nl/webfonts/fa-solid-900.woff
https://movechamps.nl/webfonts/fa-solid-900.woff2

In the waterfall it is shown that these are causing serieus delays.

These urls are also mentioned in the Rank Math 404 monitor.

Fully Loaded Time

When Autoptimize is disabled this complaint is gone. But offcause I get new ones:
Defer parsing of JavaScript
Inline small JavaScript

Fully Loaded Time

Have you got an advice what to do to solve this?

Thanks, Peter

Hey there,

I find out and paste the “above the fold CSS” from Sitelocity critical CSS generator.

With the Inline and Defer CSS option turned on every lab data on PageSpeed Insights have become better. Except “Cumulative Layout Shift”. Especially, the CLS increases from 0.002 to 0.607!

Can you help me?

Thank you.

Hello. I’m using Autoptimize for my site, and have set it up based on the instructions of my host: https://kinsta.com/blog/autoptimize-settings/ (plus adjustments to make it work with the theme).

However, whenever I enter my CDN //mk0beigexkd3qtegpvl.kinstacdn.com into the CDN Base URL field, all video files disappear. Still images seem fine.

Any idea?

Hello,

My website is showing this weird, split-second “Skip To Content” frame before it loads cleanly.

I deactivated Autoptimize and the problem went away.

Anyone have a solution where I can use Autoptimize be rid of this frame?

Thanks in advance!

Quick “Preload specific requests” question…

Hi. Thanks for a great plugin.

I’m playing around with “Preload specific requests” and fonts. FA related that come with the theme. Just doing 3 requests.

Everything works fine. However, I am testing in dev tools and lighthouse and it seems consistently it get a better score (upwards of 8 points) not using “Preload specific requests ”

Might there be a reason for this, or am I most likely imagining things!? I’m testing on mobile if that makes a difference.

Thanks
