2 fool questions – 404/410, and CSS update

Hallo Frank
Now have AO and AJ all up-&-running, quite happy but 2 things please. Maybe me being dim, if so I apologise!
Site is all working fine; no errors. I’m running W3TC and yes, I’m purging page cache religiously after every little change to AO or AJ as well as clearing my Firefox browser history. IONOS hosting isn’t showing any additional cache anywhere.
But, GTMetrix is now showing 404/410 Bad Requests for:
https://www.3ls.uk/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.ttf?v=4.0.3
https://www.3ls.uk/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.0.3
https://www.3ls.uk/wp-json/contact-form-7/v1/contact-forms/6/refill
https://www.3ls.uk/wp-json/contact-form-7/v1/contact-forms/968/refill
These only arise with AO enabled. Contact Form is working OK despite this. Any ideas please on how to clear these? Not sure how much it’s penalising site rank but GTMetrix says it’s “High” so I’d like to fix…

Also, while I’m here – and sorry if I AM being dim – how do I update CSS when using AO? Do I disable AO, clear the cache, make the CSS change, test it, then re-enable AO which should re-build the optimized pages now including the update?

Awesome plug-ins I have to say, 10/10!

js not combined in site duplicate

This site is a duplicate of http://www.greenpearls.com – in the original, AO nicely combines all css and js, in the duplicate, which is run on a different server at a different provider, AO just minifys, but doesn’t combine the js anymore. The contents, settings and plugins of those sites are identical, just the URLs differ, obviously.
What’s even more strange: While I’m logged in, it’s combining nicely, but once logged out, it doesn’t.

Error after try to delete plugin

Hi!

I want to delete the autoptize plugin at our testsystem and at our livesystem.

after both trys we get the error message:

Löschen fehlgeschlagen: {“success”:true,”data”:{“delete”:”plugin”,”slug”:”autoptimize”,”plugin”:”autoptimize\/autoptimize.php”,”pluginName”:”Autoptimize”}}

we did not know what this could mean

Website STyled Haphazardly with AutoOptimize

Hello,

First of all, thank you very much for this absolutely great plugin, really helped speed up my site.

Recently I have been having issues so I have disabled the plugin for now. When plugin is enabled, the site looks all scattered as if the style sheet is not properly loaded. Any Idea how to fix this?

i used autoptimize on my website and afet that a table i had from the plugin tablepress dissapeared. now i only get the code [table id=2 /]

this options are alredy excluded from autoptimize

wp-includes/js/dist/, wp-includes/js/tinymce/, js/jquery/jquery.js,

When Autoptimize activated, I can’t see the website images on my computer.

Hi Franke,
Sorry to bother again,
When I activate the Autoptimize, I cannot see the website images on my compter. But visitors can see the images normally. I tried to solve the problem these days. But I couldn’t make it.
Earlier I thought it was a VPN problem, but then I found it was not. Even if I turned off the VPN, I still couldn’t see the images on the website.
How can I solve this problem?

Provide Defer jQuery & other non-aggregated JS files for all

Hi,
Currently, if someone has purchased Critical CSS API and using the Critical CSS option inside Autoptimize, then inside that Critical CSS page (after entering a valid API key) you will see an option Defer jQuery and other non-aggregated JS files.

Now, this is an amazing option and I think will be helpful for 99% websites out there. But one thing that I did not understand is that this has nothing to do with Critical CSS or purchasing Critical CSS API. This why this option is under Critical CSS settings and not inside a normal Autoptimize setting?

Autoptimize blocking Piotnet Google map

Hi

first of all, thank you for such a great plugin.
I am having a problem which is the plugin is blocking the google map of the Piotnet plugin… but, this just happens when I load the page for the first time. When I reload it, the map appears normally

the grid plugin not working

Hello 🙂

Need to defer parsing all/most JavaScript of the website. So I installed autoptimize for the job.

After that I check GTmetrix to check and yes! it works. 100 for defer parsing JS
The problem came next…. 🙂

The gallery of images from The Grid plugin (crucial plugin for me) hide from the screen. So I tried to spot the JS on the gtmetris and add on the exclude JS field https://snipboard.io/P46pWU.jpg but it didnt work.

So need your assistance to achieve greatness 😀 just to defer parsing without mess with the grid plugin 🙂

Source map error : 404

I noticed this because PageSpeed returned an error. I eventually realized that disabling AO solved this issue. Also clearing the cache seem to have solved it as well (and disabling the criticalcss defer option). To consider maybe it has something to do with the cache made with criiticalcss and the expiration of it? Here’s the console error:

Should google etc be stopped from searching the

I searched and could not find answer for this.

Should search engines be stopped from crawling these files?
/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_aa5080843bb22ddd3de3fe18f6594ade.js

If so is there any benefit and how would one do it? Do I stop them crawling to the folder level or should file be named /wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/

wp_enqueue_scripts not working with autoptimize

Hi everyone,

I’ve installed autoptimize for WP 4.6.1 and it works great. However, I’ve noticed some scripts stopped working. All script contained in my scripts.php file are not being loaded anymore:

this script is loaded from the wp_head(). However none of the scripts loaded with wp_enqueue_script are working. So here, MyAjax remains empty, and is breaking my ajax calls, all the sliders based on slick are breaking on the site and so on..

What is the workaround to make it work?

Delete Cache Message AO

Hello,

i use WP Rocket 3.6.4 together with AO. I updated to AO 2.7.7. When pressing Delete Cache in Admin Toolbar i get now the following message:

Your Autoptimize cache might not have been purged successfully, please check on the Autoptimize settings page.

How to fix this ?

Support for No-Comma Color Functions with Minify

RGB and RGBA color values without comma (https://css-tricks.com/no-comma-color-functions-in-css/) are widely supported in all major browsers now, but it seems your css minification logic has got a problem with it.

rgb(87 113 151) for example does become #57, which is an invalid hex color value and therefore it’s not visible at all. Can you extend your minification to also work with the new declarations?

Inline and Defer CSS should be an option on page level not site wide

Hello,

First:
I like your plugin very much!
Many thanks for your work!

But I find the option “Inline and Defer CSS” a weird one (maybe because I don’t understand it 100%).
As I understand it correctly inlining and Defer CSS should be done for every page separately.
There is no such thing as a universal above the fold CSS for whole your website.
If you try to make this universal above the fold CSS you end up with a very very large inline CSS, you deoptimize your site if you do this.
If you make a small and optimized “universal” above the fold CSS, you will end up with CLS’s (cumulative layout shifts).
So, in my opinion, the inline and Defer CSS option should be on page level and not for the whole site.
The only option you have right now (if you want to do it correctly) is to pay for Criticalcss.com.
This works great, and I understand that you need companies who sponsor your work.
But I find it strange that there is an option to do it without criticalcss.com, but that option can’t work properly (unless you have a one-page website).

Can’t remove unused Autoptimize Javascript

Hello,

for the past few days i tried to finalize my speed optimization and the only recommendation that gpsi gives me is the following:

Remove unused Javascript

The unused script is located right before the </body> tag. I am not into coding but still tried to disable the script through php snippets but nothing worked. It is literally the only thing left but it seems to be quite an issue since i can’t have unused scripts slowing down the page significantly.
Is there any fix to this that i am unaware of?

Automatically updated without my permission

I’m working on a client’s test site and suddenly get this email from the site saying that Autoptimize was automatically updated to version 2.7.7

Auto Updates are disabled, and it only happened with this plugin (there are others that need updating) so I’m wondering how this happened?
